3 Marketing Truths

Social Media Marketing

If you want to grow a company, this article discusses why marketing matters in business. Being extremely organized financially and having efficient processes is important too. But without spreading awareness about your product to your customers, you’ll never make a sale.

Get Attention

A lot of people believe that sales is more important than marketing. That is a myth. Customers buy from people they know and trust. Just because you’re a bold cold caller with a good elevator pitch does not mean you’re the only option in the eyes of your customer.

You need attention. People have to know about you and the brand you represent. Omnipresence is the name of the game like Grant Cardone says in his best selling book 10X Rule. You need to be in people’s peripheral vision. Again, this is why marketing matters in business.

Enormous Growth

If we look at the obvious example of Apple, the point is well taken. Steve Jobs created arguably the greatest product in the history of manufacturing. The iPhone.

Millions of people around the globe rely on it because of how user friendly it is. However, if we hadn’t been exposed to their print, online, and TV advertisements, would more or less people be buying iPhones today?

The answer to that question is obvious. Far less people would you be willing to invest iPhone had their advertisements not been so amazing.

Marketing is the lifeblood of your business. Without it, your businesses can’t scale.

Be Remarkable

One of my favorite marketing concepts is about being “remarkable”. Seth Godin talks about this concept in his book titled Purple Cow.

The word “remarkable” means that something is worth making a “remark” about. Seth uses the example of a Purple Cow being more worthy of talking about, in comparison to the generic white or black cow. This simple idea is also true in business. Word of Mouth advertisement is still king. The key is to do something worth a mention.
